My latest book project is on Creativity.
It is currently somewhat vague, but the main ideas are:
- What is the ethical status of creativity and creative acts? Can creativity be evil or immoral? What would it mean to speak of something like “dark creativity”?
- What are the implications of thinking about Large Language Models as Creative? If we grant them creativity, do we need to then consider the moral implications of the concept or is this a neutral attribution?
- How can French philosophy help us unpack this?
French philosophy in the 20th century seems to have a love-hate relationship with creativity as a concept. My speculation at the moment is that the way this tension is displayed there might help articulate some of the contradictions there.
